Contents Page - Stage 1

This is the first stage of my contents page. I have added a title in the same font as on my front page. This is to show a consistent house theme throughout my magazine. The pictures to the right of the title are from my first photo shoot, I liked a lot of these photos but they were not very appropriate for the front cover. I edited the brightness and contrast but as they were only going to be small images I did not crop them or edit them too much. For the images of the female I added a drop shadow effect, this gave them a more 3D look, as though they were protruding out of the page. I used a large image of the model on the front cover in a different outfit. I wanted a large image so I could "wrap" text around it instead of just having three columns. I continued the font from the front cover when writing "this month". The font I used is Trajan Pro, I like this font because it gives a formal look to the magazine as it uses serifs.

Final Stage of Front Cover

This is my final front cover, as you can see I have added in some more cover lines and changed some of them as well. I changed the competition in the bubble as winning tickets to a festival seemed like it would appeal more to the audience I am aiming my magazine at. I included a black strip at the top of my magazine to show a freebie that would come with the magazine. This would appeal to any audience as they feel that they are getting more for their money. I used black as I had not used this colour very much throughout the front cover and as it is dark on the light back ground it stands out a lot. I also added in a barcode to the magazine but as it is covering his head I may make a minor change and move this.

Second Stage of Front Cover

I added a lot of cover lines in a short space of time to my magazine, this was because I already knew what I wanted to add in but I just had to choose the font. I used a variety of fonts for the cover lines to show the diverse topics that appear in the magazine. I used a serif and sans serif fonts to show an informal and professional apperance. I have stuck to the colour theme of black, grey, white and blue. The blue that I have chosen to use was picked out from the models shirt. I chose to use black and white when writing the cover lines because they would both stand out on the grey background but when the writing overlaps on the picture it would be hard to read in a dark colour. I included a competition in the blue bubble to make this stand out to the readers and encourage them to buy the magazine in the hope that they will win the competition.

Cover Lines

This is the cover line for the main article in the magazine, I chose to put this cover line in the centre of the magazine to show it's importance above the others. It also implies that the article is about the person on the front as it is placed in front of them. When choosing the font for this cover line it was very hard but I feel that the final decision works well. The serif font shows formality which is ironic for a Rock magazine but the interview includes how he is not the person the media describe him as "it's time for a new image".

Title Construction

The font that I chose for my front cover title was called "28 days later". At first I wanted the title in black but after I added the cover lines the cover looked very dark so I decided to change the colour to white. This lightened the whole look of the magazine and made it look more "approachable" than it did before. The dark colour also made the title harder to read, even though it stood out on the light background, it merged with the models hair making it hard to define the "L".

First Stage of Front Cover

This is the image I have chosen for my front cover. I changed the brightness and contrast of the image to make it look sharper more professional. I also had to cut the image out of the background as there were a few distractions that the cover lines would not have shown up in front of. The image was fairly hard to cut out as the models hair was very messy so it was difficult to keep the texture the same, instead of it looking flat or looking too messy. Now that I have chosen the image and edited it I am very happy with the results. I am glad that I chose this image because I like the way that the guitar protrudes out of the page and the facial expression of the model.
